What This Class Is The pistol-mounted red dot is one of the biggest shifts in defensive and competition shooting in a generation — but bolting an optic to your slide doesn't automatically make you faster or more accurate. This class is designed to take the mystery out of the red dot. We start in the classroom with what these sights are, the different types on the market, and why they behave the way they do. Then we move to the range and build the specific skills that let you find the dot fast, track it through recoil, and trust it under pressure. You'll walk away with a clear understanding of the technology, an honest picture of its benefits and tradeoffs versus iron sights, guidance on choosing the right optic for your needs, and a repeatable practice plan to keep improving after the class ends.

Do I need a pistol with a red dot already mounted?
Ideally, yes! Bring one if you have it, but iron-sight shooters are welcome; we cover choosing and running an optic so you can decide before you buy.
Is this for beginners or experienced shooters?
Both — anyone new to red dots or switching from irons. Pistol 101 or equivalent class is required but no prior optic experience needed, just safe gun handling, and understand how to reliably and consistently present the firearm toward the target.
What will I be able to do afterward?
Find the dot fast on presentation, track it through recoil, understand the tradeoffs vs. irons, pick the right optic, and follow a repeatable practice plan.
